I'm sure everyone has wondered where a lot of students they see working the front desks of campus buildings, the library, and the rec find out about their jobs. I'm here to tell you how to make the most of HireaHawk in regards to student employment.
Formally Jobnet, the university has upgraded the student employment page and has moved it to pair with the HireaHawk feature every Iowa student has access to. This is a super cool database where local employers can post jobs on-campus or a very short trip from campus. EVERY student should take advantage of this feature the university provides for us. I've even found both of my jobs via this super fabulous database.
FIRST: Log in to your HireaHawk account and go to the feature where the job listings are. (Under current postings)
SECOND: Search and apply! This is a great feature where you can just click the student employment option on the position type section.
THIRD: A ton of options will pop up and you can search filter just like a regular job search on HireaHawk. By clicking on the title of the position at the top of the ad, you can access all the information the employer has given the career center.
FOURTH: Make sure to update your resume. You will have to have a resume and student employment application uploaded to HireaHawk (and the first resume must be approved) before you can submit your documents to jobs. Look over the job description, details (hours required etc.) and qualifications to make sure the position is a good fit for you.
FIFTH: With a simple click of a button, you can APPLY for the on-campus job, AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
SEEEEEE how easy was that? Simple as a couple of clicks of a mouse and you could potentially have the on-campus job of your dreams!
