careerBUZZ: 5 Reasons why you should Meet with a Career Advisor

Monday, October 23, 2017 - 10:54am

You may be feeling overwhelmed when considering meeting with a Career Advisor at the Pomerantz Career Center. Who are the Career Center Advisors? What can they do for me? How do I schedule an appointment? Have no fear, Leslie Knope is here to break it down for you!

  1. Your options are endless

There are 12 Career Advisors, divided by 10 Career Communities. You get to choose your own career community based on your interests, as your major doesn’t always correlate to the career you go into after graduation. Career advisors help you explore your interests and assist you in creating a plan to lead you to success!

  1. Scheduling an appointment has never been easier

To schedule an appointment, simply go to MyUI, click on My Appointments, and then pick the Pomerantz Career Center. Just like that, you’ll be able to set up a 30-minute appointment with a Career Advisor! Appointments are located on the third floor of the Pomerantz Center, available Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, year-round.

  1. Don’t know what you want to do? No problem

Feeling totally lost and like you have no idea what you want to do with your life or what you want to major in? No worries! You can schedule as many appointments as you want with the different Career Communities to really see what you like. The Career Advisors are there to help you explore your interests, skills, values and strengths. Before you know it, you’ll have decided on any majors, minors, or certificates you may want!
