Registration season is upon us!
Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t know what to take? Don’t worry, for the Career Center is here to save the day!
The Pomerantz Career Center has over 20 registered academic courses available listed as either CCP (Career Center Programs) or LS (Leadership Studies). These courses range from 1-3 semester hours and are often off cycle, making them the perfect addition to any schedule. Here are 5 different ways they can help you develop your career journey.
- Explore Majors and Careers
Where do you see yourself in five years? What is your dream job? What are your plans after graduation?
Let me be the first to tell you it is OKAY to not have it all figured out. Consider taking Career Exploration or Career Leadership Academy to learn how to best navigate and identify your interests, skills and values related to a career path.
- Develop Leadership Skills
Leadership doesn’t have to mean being the head of a group every time. Leadership could be taking charge of a situation in which you are knowledgeable or a communication style with a co-worker. Communication Skills for Leaders and Strengths-Based Leadership are two classes that will help you enhance your leadership skill set and learn when to utilize it.
- Expand Communication Skills
Taking classes such as Communication in the Workplace and Office Etiquette for the Workplace will help you enhance both your verbal and written communication skills. This also includes your presentation skills giving you the ability to face that stage fright and be on top of your game!
- Gain Personal Finance Skills
Learn all the basics of personal finance in classes like MoneyWise and Personal Investment. These classes are offered to all students and teach valuable skills you can apply right away in how to save effectively and spend properly. These classes are truly the best of both worlds because you are learning how to make money AND get credit hours.
- Search for a Job or Grad Schools
If you have an idea of what you want to do, now you just have to figure out how to get it. Check out Social Media for Your Job Search or Graduate Admissions 101 to find that next step in life. You’ve done the work, now win the gold!
