Hey Hawkeyes! Welcome back to our alumni spotlight series. Today we are spotlighting Jordan Allen (BBA ‘19, emphasis in management and organizations, minor in communication studies, certificate in leadership studies).
Allen grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa, and is currently working as the customer success coordinator at Workiva in Ames, Iowa. He started this position in November 2020, and before that was employed at Granular in Johnston, Iowa.
In his current role, Allen loves the relationships he gets to build with his coworkers. He enjoys getting to know new people at his new workplace.
“I also love feeling that I am making a positive impact on our customers and allowing them to run their businesses more efficiently,” Allen says.
Allen says Career Leadership Academy (CLA) helped him in many ways, including teaching him basic leadership principles and styles.
“Each person is going to lead and respond to leadership in different ways, so being able to work with that person to best understand how they want to lead is a huge skill I gained from the courses,” Allen says. “They also helped me to realize the importance of service-learning and how much of an impact even just one person can have in the world.”
CLA continues to help Allen in his past and current roles.
“CLA and my Certificate in Leadership Studies have come up many times in interviews and conversations with co-workers, and there are topics and ideas that I am able to use on a daily basis both personally and professionally,” Allen says.
