It’s no secret that the job market for PhDs is rapidly changing. While once most PhDs expected to go directly into academia or industry, now many seek employment with government, non-profits, think tanks, or even alternative-academic (“alt-ac”) work in academia. Prepare for your career early by booking one of the following appointments: Career Advising, Professional Online Identity, or Job Materials Review. Appointments are available in Gilmore Hall (East of River) and in the Medical Research Center (West of River)
We prepare our students for any professional destination that calls them.
Iowa Law consistently outperforms the national average in placing students in legal jobs—in every sector and geographic location. In fact, more than half of our graduates work outside Iowa. Wherever your career takes you, you’ll be known for legal incisiveness, wisdom, and an uncommon strength of character.
Our active approach to partnering with students in becoming job-ready candidates, as well as our commitment to continually developing new employer partnerships, enables us to be engaged at a high level in the placement process.
