John Markwiese interned with AT&T in Dallas, Texas at the AT&T Headquarters this past summer as a Finance Intern with the Global Payments Strategies and Operations department.

What were your internship responsibilities?

I worked closely with all levels of management to complete numerous projects. I provided financial analysis for each of the projects which resulted in cash savings and allowed work between organizations to flow smoothly and at a quicker pace.

What did a normal work day look like?

Every morning I would meet with my manager to discuss our goals for the day. Next I would get started on the projects I was currently working on. After lunch I would meet back with my manager briefly to brainstorm new goals and try and implement them.

What was the most impactful thing you learned?

The most impactful thing I learned over the summer was understanding how to work in a large corporation environment while building long lasting relationships that will help further my career down the road.

What was your favorite memory from your internship?

My favorite memory of the internship was receiving the news that my suggestion for the company that I had been working on all summer would be implemented into every day functions.
