Tess

Tess Wilberding interned abroad in Australia for Zadro Agency as a Communications Intern.

What were your internship responsibilities?

I went to meetings, wrote press releases, designed brochures for clients, did copy writing, set up displays at company events and helped host them, attended workshops, sent emails, made phone calls, produced social media marketing and a few other things.

What did a normal work day look like?

Every day was a little different! We would go into work, check our emails and work on different projects. Some days the projects were press releases, another day it might be working on a re-brand for a new company. We would usually work on different projects throughout the day with occasional meetings and then we would leave around 5:00 pm.

What was your biggest challenge during your internship?

My biggest challenge was working with the small culture differences in business. There were certain things I had to learn that we do differently in America even with some small things like typing words with an "s" instead of a "z" or an "ou" instead of an "o." Then there were other phrases we learned and the culture was a bit more laid back I found, so I learned not to just get straight to business on phone calls. I would have a conversation and build a relationship with the client first before we would mention anything about work.

What was your favorite memory from your internship?

My favorite memory from my internship was just meeting the people I worked with everyday and getting to know them and exploring a new country. Everything was so different and exciting I'm so happy to have had this experience.
