Multimedia Marketing Assistant

The College of Engineering Marketing and Communications team seeks a reliable, creative, and independent University of Iowa student to do social media coordination and digital content creation. ResponsibilitiesThis position will include creating content for and potentially managing some or all of the College of Engineering’s social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook, X, and/or LinkedIn. Tasks may include planning posts using an editorial calendar, drafting written content, the production of videos and reels, graphic design, photography, monitoring comments, and tracking engagement metrics.If able, this position may also produce or assist in the filming and production of videos to support the college’s mission. Video topics may include student events and accomplishments, departmental offerings, faculty and staff research activities, student recruitment, or video messaging from the dean’s office. See the college’s YouTube channel for examples of past videos; creativity and new ideas encouraged.Desired skills and experienceExperience in social media management and/or social media content creation in a marketing context (for a professional, non-profit, or student organization)Ability to come up with creative, fresh ways to produce and present content to drive engagementAbility to shoot professional quality video, including b-roll and interviewsVideo editing skills: Adobe Premiere Pro preferred or other similar video editing programAbility to follow university brand and graphic standardsBasic graphic design skills to create social media graphicsAbility to take feedback constructively and work collaboratively with othersStrong planning and organizational skillsClear communication with supervisor and responsive to emailWork expectationsThis can be a combination of in-person and remote work, or entirely in-person at the Seamans Center. Laboratory Assistant (Work-Study possible)

Duties:1. In the short term, the top priority is completion of needed laboratory maintenance including washing fruit fly vials and other glassware; cooking fruit fly food; maintaining laboratory fruit fly stocks. 2. In the long-term, the second possibility is research assistance, time permitting. A likely project would involve fruit fly genetics.Qualifications:Life sciences or engineering major with biology background and some experience with basic lab safety (e.g. though lab coursework or through prior employment) preferred.3.5 GPA or higher preferred.Work Schedule: Work during regular daytime hours. Internal Medicine Student Developer

Internal Medicine Student Developer As an Internal Medicine Student Developer, you will work alongside the full-time developers in helping to keep the current applications updated and implementing new features. All applications use C#, .NET, HTML, JavaScript, and AngularJS. You will also need to use SQL for data management and queries.  Daily Duties would include • Data entry and management. • Report building • SQL query writing and tuning • Backend C# development • Frontend HTML JavaScript and AngularJS Development • User experience Testing and refinement Prior experience in these languages is not required.

All winners are awarded with the Student Employee of the Year electronic charger and a framed certificate signed by the President.

Supervisor of the Year

Student supervisors play an incredibly important role, not only for the University, but for the students that they lead. The level of importance that supervisors play in the overall education experience of their students has been highlighted in the incredible number of nominations written by students over the 8 years of the award.

Through this annual award, the Office of Student Employment and the University recognize the terrific leadership and workplace environment that student supervisors have created within their department.
