Library Support Assistant Positions – Main Library  Student assistants at the UI Libraries are vital for providing services and welcoming spaces to our campus community. Our student employees work in a variety of positions in several different Main Library units: Acquisitions, Cataloging, Interlibrary Loan, Bookstacks, Conservation & Collections Care, or Special Collections & Archives. Student Assistants will typically be scheduled to work 8-19 hours a week on a set semester schedule. Hours can be scheduled between classes during the week in convenient increments. Some units offer the possibility of more advanced student positions that could offer you the benefits of higher pay, increased responsibility, and management experience.  Sample tasks include but are not limited to:Provide friendly, competent assistance at a service desk (Check out/in materials, retrieve items from closed stacks)Answer informational questions about the library and its resourcesShelve and shift library materialRetrieve and process materials for delivery and reserve servicesPerform basic preservation treatments on circulating collectionCatalog database maintenance; metadata maintenance in InfoHawk+ and IROProcess vendor cataloged booksScan/photocopy patron requests; process manuscript collectionsPage items for on‐site patron use as well as interlibrary loan requestsWork with online collection finding aids. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Customer service and communication skills – dependability - desire to learn new technologies and skills  Benefits of Working at the LibraryCustomer service, and professional work experience (Resume building!)Set schedule for the semesterBi-weekly pay checks Starting pay, $10 per hour, (opportunities for raises!)Library Student Employee Undergraduate Scholarship opportunities! Include a resume and schedule availability (or course schedule) when applying. Museum Education & Access InternshipThe Pentacrest Museums' Education & Engagement department is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a motivated student passionate about supporting diverse audiences, particularly neuro-diverse learners. Temp - Financial Aid Counselor

Impact & Responsibilities: Provide general counseling to students and families regarding the financial aid process and FAFSA completion, overview of financial aid offers, and general guidance on paying for college. Participates in financial aid outreach functions related to summer orientation, visit days, Welcome Week, etc. Assists with the general customer relations needs of the office, including phone and email response when necessary.Requirements: Bachelor's degree; evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking experience.Spring 2024 graduates will be considered. Student supervisors play an incredibly important role, not only for the University, but for the students that they lead.
