Career Fairs

Each year, the Pomerantz Career Center hosts multiple career fairs on-campus. Some of these events are large fairs hosting more than 150 employers. These events are open to all majors. There are a few targeted fairs for specific majors as well: Education, Actuarial Science & Risk Management, etc.

How Can You Assist Your Students?

  • Make sure they are aware of the upcoming fairs.
  • Encourage younger students to attend so they become familiar with the format and are more prepared when they begin looking for jobs & internships.
  • Advise students to research employers they are interested in speaking with. They can view tips on researching employers and networking on our website.
  • Encourage students to have their resume reviewed by the Career Center during our walk-in hours.
  • Encourage students to access their Handshake accounts to research and connect with employers in advance of the fair. Students can RSVP and submit their resumes to as many individual employers as they would like. Students should also be encouraged to update their Handshake profile and upload their reviewed resume so that they are ready to apply for jobs & internships through the system.
  • Encourage students to attend the "Prepare for the Fair" sessions so they can learn more about networking with employers and how to present themselves and make the best first impression.

Mock Interviews

Interested in Adding a Mock Interview to Your Course?

Integrating a mock interview into your class is a powerful way to help students build confidence and sharpen their career-readiness skills. To create an effective mock interview assignment, begin by identifying potential employer partners—or connect with the Employer Relations Team, and we’ll be happy to recommend organizations eager to engage with students. From there, decide on the timing, format, and grading structure that best aligns with your course goals.

Timing
Consider when in the semester a mock interview will have its greatest impact. Think about how this professional development experience aligns with your course content and the availability of the employers you plan to involve. For example:

  • Is this a busy season for the industry?

  • Would you like to coordinate the assignment around other Pomerantz Career Center opportunities (e.g., Career Fair or Career Treks)?

Also, determine the length of each mock interview. The PCC typically schedules 45-minute sessions–30 minutes of interviewing followed by 15 minutes of employer feedback.

Modality
Think about the structure that works for both your class and the employer. Key questions include:

  1. How many students need interview slots?

  1. How many interview slots can each employer offer?

  1. Will mock interviews take place over the course of the week, or a day?

A full day of in-person interviews generally provides 8 mock interviews slots with one hour reserved for lunch, following the 45-minute session model above.

You can also decide whether to host the mock interviews in person, virtually, or by using Big Interview, our online interview practice platform.

Grading & Feedback
Rubrics can vary depending on your course’s learning objectives and your personal grading technique. This is the form we ask employers to utilize when conducting their mock interviews.
